OUR RESPONSE TO

VIRTUAL EVENT NOTICE: In early May, we released a statement indicating that we would continue to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 in our community. During that time have seen nearly every large community event in this area cancel or postpone until 2021. We care deeply about the safety of our community, our event's reputation, our relationship with our sponsors and the National Fallen Firefighter's Foundation, and of course, you and your families. While we sincerely hoped that we would be able to have Run for the Fallen live and in-person, we have made the difficult decision to transition this year's run to a virtual event.
While we are disappointed that we will not be able to have the event the way we have in the past, we are very fortunate that we can offer this alternate event to you instead of cancelling. This transition will allow anyone to participate in the 5K, 10K or 1 Mile Firefighter Challenge, right in their own neighborhood, favorite trail or at their station. Our partners at RunSignUp have created a very easy and user-friendly virtual event platform that will allow participants to share their times and more.
We will still be putting together our fantastic race bags, providing event tees, fallen honor badges, awards and more. We will still offer walk-in registration and packet pick-up, and have also added a direct mail option for participants running for the fallen near and far. Our website, frequently asked questions, and registration platform has been updated with the latest information about this year's event.
While we know this won't be the same, we are hard at work coming up with ways to make this year's event special and memorable for you all.
Even though we can't be together, we can still come together in memory of the brave men and women of the New York City Police Department, Port Authority Police Department and New York City Fire Department that gave their lives on 9/11.
