1 MILE FIREFIGHTER CHALLENGE

VIRTUAL RUN/WALK

SEPTEMBER 12TH, 2020

VIRTUAL IN 2020 ONLY: In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, all of this year's Run for the Fallen events will be held virtually, right in the convenience and safety of your own neighborhood, community or favorite trail. 

 

If you have a friend or family member that is participating in the 1 Mile Firefighter Challenge, as an active member of the fire service community, we encourage you to sign up and accompany them in this event. 

ABOUT: The 1 Mile Firefighter Challenge is a 1 mile run/walk in which fire personnel are invited to participate in full gear in honor of the fallen first responders of 9/11.  

Your participation in this event is not only about remembrance, but also about supporting those that continue to serve our communities today.  

As a non-fire personnel participant, we ask that you keep the above statement in mind during this event. If you are registering for the 1 Mile, you should be accompanying a friend or family member who is currently serving in the fire service community. 

 

We ask that you walk or run alongside them as they navigate the course. Please do not be competitive.  Your participation in this event is about supporting those who put their lives on the line every day, rather than finishing with the best time.

Thank you for your cooperation and for supporting our first responders. 

START TIME: Participants are welcome to participate in Run for the Fallen's Virtual 1 Mile Firefighter Challenge at any time on Saturday, September 12th, 2020.  All events must be completed by 11:59pm.  

1 MILE COURSE:  Participants are welcome to choose to participate in the Virtual 1 Mile Firefighter Challenge Run/Walk wherever they choose.  Fire personnel can run anywhere in their community, along their favorite trail or near their station. Need help choosing your perfect 1 Mile course? Check out the MapMyRun or MapMyWalk mobile apps available on the AppStore or Google Play. 

TIMING:  Participants will be responsible for timing their own event.  Participants are expected to be honest and submit accurate times. Need help timing your 1 Mile Firefighter Challenge, check out the MapMyRun or MapMyWalk mobile apps available on the AppStore or Google Play.  

Submission instructions coming soon. 

SHIRT CUT-OFF:  August 12th, 2020.  Please register by this date to be guaranteed an event tee in your correct size.  Extra shirts will be ordered and given to participants on a first-come, first-served basis. 

OPENING MEMORIAL CEREMONY:  Tune in to the Run for the Fallen 2020 Facebook Event to observe this year's Opening Memorial Ceremony live at 8:46 am on Race Day.
